SSX is a game franchise involving snow sports and has been defining the genre ever since the first game came out.
The newest installment is SSX Blur, which is on the Nintendo Wii.
The game boasts a revolutionary new control system, allowing you to control your rider both on the ground and in the air, with a Nunchuck and the Wiimote.
To be honest, SSX Blur is the worst game I have ever played, and why is that?
The aforementioned control system.
To turn, you tilt the nunchuck to the way you want to turn, but don't turn it too much, or you'll just turn sideways and stop.
To speed up, you press the control stick forward, but if you're trying to go in a particular direction, forget about it. When you're speeding up all your rider does is hop, making controlling yourself impossible.
Grabs are also hard, there are three possible outcomes. 1. You don't do anything. 2. You actually do the grab. 3. Your rider goes into a seizure like state, looking like they're trying to grab the board, reconsidering, going to grab again, and so on.
Basically, the easiest part of this game is menu navigation and doing flips and what are called uber tricks, the flips, spins and uber tricks only requiring you to shake around the Wiimote, Nunchuck, or both in a spastic manner.
This game has a great concept, but has very VERY poor execution. I give it... 2/10.
